Shubham Jain, founder of Wudware, is among a growing number of entrepreneurs building modern product brands from outside India’s major business hubs. Based in Una, Himachal Pradesh, he has spent the last few years working on a hardware and interior solutions business that aims to expand across multiple markets in India.

Coming from a business family involved in paint distribution, Shubham was introduced to trade operations early in life. He learned how dealer systems function, how inventory moves, and how customer relationships influence long-term business growth.

Unlike many startup founders entering business through technology or corporate backgrounds, his learning came directly from working in physical markets and distribution networks.

Transition from Traditional Trade to Brand Building

For several years, Shubham remained involved in the family’s paint business. During this time, he developed an understanding of supply chains, pricing structures, and dealer management.

However, as consumer demand in the interior sector started changing, he began exploring categories beyond paint distribution. He observed increasing interest in modular kitchens, wardrobes, and modern hardware fittings, especially among customers looking for organized interior solutions.

This led him toward architectural hardware and modular interior products, a category where he believed long-term demand would continue to rise.

Starting from the Ground Level

Shubham entered the modular hardware segment in 2020. The beginning was far from easy. Since the brand was new and self-funded, growth depended heavily on personal effort and local market acceptance.

He spent the initial phase visiting dealers directly, explaining products, and building trust through one-on-one interactions. Without a large team or investor backing, operations moved slowly in the first year.

According to people associated with the business, this period helped him understand market expectations more clearly than rapid expansion would have.

Why the Display Centre Model Worked

One of the turning points for Wudware came when Shubham introduced a display centre concept in his region. Instead of relying only on catalogs or samples, the company created a physical setup where customers and dealers could experience products directly.

The idea was practical. Interior and hardware products are often easier to sell when buyers can physically examine design, finish, and utility.

The display centre approach also helped Wudware stand out in a market where many sellers still depended mainly on traditional selling methods.

Over time, this model became part of the company’s larger strategy for market expansion and customer engagement.

Building Wudware as a Bootstrapped Business

Wudware was officially launched in late 2022 as a bootstrapped company. Shubham focused on building gradually rather than chasing rapid expansion through external investment.

The brand currently deals in architectural hardware, modular kitchen accessories, wardrobes, designer handles, profiles, decorative panels, plywood, and related interior products.

Its business model is centered on offering multiple interior categories under one umbrella, making sourcing easier for dealers and contractors.

Expansion Through Distribution Networks

In 2023, the company started building its distribution network outside Himachal Pradesh. Shubham used his earlier experience in trade and supply systems to structure this expansion.

The company also began adding dedicated teams for sales, packaging, and production coordination as operations increased.

At the same time, Wudware focused on creating stronger dealer relationships through branding support, promotional material, and training initiatives.

The company is also planning display centres for service and product support in different regions as part of its long-term expansion strategy.

Business Philosophy Focused on Discipline

Shubham often speaks openly about his views on business growth. He believes that success in business comes from discipline, patience, and continuous learning rather than comparison with competitors.

He has referred to industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani as examples of how large businesses are built through long-term execution and scale.

According to him, wealth creation is directly linked to converting work into growth and growth into profit.

He also maintains that strong decision-making and practical thinking are as important as financial investment when building a business.

Focus on Reach and Affordability

A major part of Wudware’s strategy is based on making modular interior products available across a wider customer base. The company is working to balance pricing, availability, and product variety while expanding into new markets.

Shubham believes that demand for organized and modular interiors is increasing steadily, not only in large urban centres but across multiple regions where customers now expect modern product options.

This shift, according to him, creates opportunities for brands that can maintain both pricing and supply consistency.

Long-Term Vision for Wudware

Shubham’s long-term goal is to establish Wudware as a recognized hardware and interior solutions brand across India. Alongside business expansion, he also connects growth with employment generation and dealer development.

The company’s future plans include expanding distribution, increasing product categories, and strengthening physical experience centres.

Industry observers note that while the hardware segment remains highly competitive, brands with strong dealer support and stable supply systems continue to gain traction in the market.

For now, Wudware remains in a growth phase, but Shubham’s focus appears fixed on steady expansion rather than short-term visibility.
